In the blogosphere, we sometimes behave in ways that are less than completely ennobling. Here’s a chance for bloggers, of the right, left and middle, to do something that evens things up on the Karmic scoreboard just a bit.

Blogger D. Challener Roe has begun the “2,996” project. He is on a quest to sign up 2,996 bloggers to write one memorial apiece remembering all of the 2,996 9/11 victims. With the fifth anniversary of 9/11 fast approaching, this seems like a wonderfully fitting way to say we remember and show our respects. He puts it this way:

2,996 is a tribute to the victims of 9/11.

On September 11, 2006, 2,996 volunteer bloggers will join together for a tribute to the victims of 9/11. Each person will pay tribute to a single victim.

We will honor them by remembering their lives, and not by remembering their murderers.

I’ve proudly signed up and I’m thrilled to be able to give the project some exposure; I hope other bloggers will consider doing so as well.
