(Guest Post by Bill Dyer a/k/a Beldar)

Victor Davis Hanson and many others have suggested that Sarah Palin reminds us of the extremely pregnant heroine of the Coen Brothers' 1996 movie Fargo, Police Chief Marge Gunderson (brilliantly played by Frances McDormand, who picked up the Oscar for Best Actress).

I have it on good authority that Gov. Palin was prepared to say to Joe Biden, if need be, during the debate last night: "Sir, you have no call to get snippy with me, I'm just doing my job here."

But rather than car salesman Jerry Lundegaard (played by William H. Macy), Joe Biden actually more resembles the ever-blabbing kidnapper Carl Showalter (played by Steve Buscemi) — which makes Barack Obama into the aloof, chain-smoking Gaear Grimsrud (played by Peter Stormare).

The problem is that leaves the best fit for John McCain as Wade Gustafson (played by Harve Presnell), the father of the kidnap victim, which isn't a particularly good fit except that he's a brave older guy with money and a temper. And even though he claims to hang out a lot at Home Depot, Joe Biden would never, ever actually feed Barack Obama into a chipper-shredder.
