The Democrats didn't lay a glove on former White House political director Sara Taylor in yesterday's hearing.  Her steady performance brought more gloom to the Dems who believed their fixation of the firing of the U.S. Attorneys was certain to generate fireworks and big headlines.  But as the Washington Post story on yesterday's proceedings telegraphs, the hearing was a bust, and the giant snore you hear is the public's reaction to the Clown Congress' latest act.

Here are some excerpts for those who couldn't stay awake as the very composed rebuffed every cliched probe launched by the Dems.  "I know the president to be a good and decent man. I admire his unflinching devotion to always do what he believes is right for this country," Taylor testified, and all of Patrick Leahy's rumblings moved her not an inch.   The attempt to turn the dismissal of political appointees who serve at the pleasure of the president into Watergate 2.0 reminds us of Marx's comment on Hegel's view of history repeating itself: "[Hegel] has forgotten to add: the first time as tragedy, the second as farce.”  Chairman Farce, er, Leahy, should avoid witnesses that leave him looking like Bluto on a bad day.
