Hillary's attack on the hard left base of her party is very significant:

"We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the activist base of the Democratic Party.  MoveOn didn't even want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that's what we're dealing with. And you know they turn out in great numbers. And they are very driven by their view of our positions, and it's primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don't agree with them. They know I don't agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me."

The coverage of this story thus far is focused on the attempt by Clinton to explain away caucus state losses, but the important aspect --one which will be talked about for days and weeks and months-- is her admission that the actvists of the Democrats are far to the left of American political opinion.

"MoveOn didn't even want us to go into Afghanistan," she states and she does not even need to explain how far outside of the mainstream that position was and remains.  She might have added a comment or two about "General Betrayus," but the point is she didn't need to.  Her audience knew the truth of her characterization, as does the media and most senior Democrats.

MoveOn and the rest of the hard left Dems support Obama.  If he is elected president, they will come to Washington with him and they will drive the government off the left side of every road.

Hillary's numbers are rising and Obama's falling in the national polls as Democrats begin to recognize that not only is Obama far from a perfect candidate, his views and the views of his supporters are so far outside of the mainstream that his nomination could not only mean a loss in November, but down-ticket chaos as well.
