Environmental groups are rushing to intervene in the litigation surrounding the decision to list the polar bear as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act.Affected industries -oil and gas obviously, but also coal, transportation and manufacturing concerns-- ought to also be seeking full intervenor status in the effort to help the State of Alaska reverse the Department of the Interior's unprecedented decision to use disputed models of future habitat loss to justify a listing, but there is almost no recognition among impacted businesses of the consequences of the listing.
