Lanny Davis seems to have done himself no favors today. On the right, the Powerliners see his WSJ op-ed piece the same way I did – his attacks on right wingers were unsubstantiated, ignorant and out of line.
And on the left, his article has elicited the typical balanced and mature commentary we’ve come to expect from the Nutroots. Daily Kos alum Steve Gilliard delicately reproaches Davis:
Lanny Davis should be ashmed (sic) of himself. Running to the people (at the Wall Street Journal) who drove his friend to blow his brains out. Remember how Bob Bartley smugly went on TV to wash his hands of the whole affair. Now, to save your friend Joe Lieberman, you run to their warm embrace, skipping over the puddles of blood of your late friend, well darkened spots after all this time.
If that paragraph was Gilliard’s attempt to refute Davis’ theory that the left is now a home for “scary hatred,” then I think it was a dismal failure.
