…is over? Anyway, the British troops are coming home. The Mahdi has spoken:

“I announce their freedom and their return to their people. They will be free after our meeting. They will go to the airport and will join their families… Our government has pardoned them, it is a gift from our people.”

I especially like the part where Ahmadenijad seemingly channels Dinesh D’Souza:

He criticized Britain for deploying Leading Seaman Faye Turney, one of the 15 detainees, in the Gulf, pointing out that she is a woman with a child. "How can you justify seeing a mother away from her home, her children? Why don't they respect family values in the West?" he asked of the British government.

I find the Mahdi’s comments especially offensive in light of our Speakerette’s recent willingness to don a hijab. If that doesn’t say just how much we respect family values, what will?
