Kevin Drum admits that the lefties can't compete in the marketplace of ideas:

Unless you're a seasoned pro yourself, you're not going to outduel guys like Hewitt or Bill O'Reilly. You're just not. And if the next day all your friends give you high fives and tell you that you kicked ass, they're just being good friends. Believe me: you didn't.

Luckily for me, whatever kind of ego I have, it's not the kind that wants to appear on TV shows jousting with people determined to prove I'm an idiot. So I'm not tempted. And let's face it: the kind of folks who listen to Hewitt and O'Reilly and their ilk aren't going to be swayed by even the most silken-tongued liberal in the world. So what's the point?

Yeah, yeah, yeah: It's not my dog; it didn't bite you; besides you kicked it first.  In seven years of syndicated radio I have never cut off a guest.  In ten years of television interviews, I cut off one guest.  What is required for a lefty to do well on radio or television are (1)a command of facts and (2)a willingness to answer questions, even the hard ones.  Those that do do well.  Those that won't, don't.

Read the comments as well.  BTW: "The kind of folks" who listen to me include vast numbers of professionals, academics, active duty and retired military, and ordinary Americans for whom Kevin quite obviously has contempt.  This is why the left will never manufacture a majority in America --they share Kevin's disdain for Americans of all backgrounds and classes with whom they disagree.

BTW: Kevin --you are always welcome on the program.
